Personal Project

A planner I built for myself, where capturing a task takes 1 key press and an AI does the filing. Tasks live in ClickUp, dated ones sync to Google Calendar, and a desktop widget shows what today holds. There's a demo you can click.

Key Deliverables & Scope
  • ▶ 1 key press sends highlighted text to a ClickUp Inbox
  • ▶ Claude files the Inbox through an MCP server I built, and asks instead of guessing
  • ▶ One-way sync to Google Calendar, with a cross-check every 6 hours that catches drift

Every to-do app is good at storing tasks. None of them help in the few seconds between having a thought and losing it. That gap is the whole problem, so that’s the part I built.

Highlight text anywhere on my desktop, press a macro key, and it’s in a ClickUp Inbox. No window, no form, no choosing a list. Later, a second key hands the Inbox to Claude, which works through an MCP server I wrote: it reads each note, files it under the right list, sets a due date when the note makes one obvious, and asks me when it isn’t sure.

It isn’t allowed to guess.

The rest is plumbing, and the plumbing is what makes it trustworthy. Dated tasks sync one way to Google Calendar. Completing a task removes its calendar entry at once, not at the next sync. A cross-check runs every 6 hours and looks for the 4 ways the two can disagree: an entry that’s missing, orphaned, duplicated, or edited by hand. A KDE Plasma widget puts today’s events, the due and overdue tasks, and the time they’ll take on the desktop. And the whole thing goes quiet while OBS is running, because nobody watching a stream needs to see my to-do list.

Try it

The demo is a replica with made-up data, and keyword rules standing in for Claude. Capture something, triage it, then break the calendar by hand and run the cross-check.

It took an AI, 2 APIs and a desktop widget to do what a sticky note does. Then again, the sticky note never synced to my calendar.
